 Branch News from 2014

2014 was a busy year for the branch, membership is good at around 48 with an average of 20 attending monthly meeting. The Branch has moved our monthly meeting location from Brock Barracks to The Royal British Legion Tilehurst Reading where we met the last Wednesday of each month at 1930 hrs.

The Christmas Dinner at the Old Mill in Aldermaston was again a great success with 48 members, widows and guests attending On a sad note, we say goodbye to Toby North and his wife Gale, Toby's enthusiasm for getting things done and its organisation skill will be sorely missed. We wish them well in their new venture. However, we welcome Iain Tait who has taken on the reins from Toby as the Chairman of The Maiwand Weekend, we wish him well.

Members attended Salisbury Reunion on the Sunday and had an excellent day in the sun, well done Salisbury. Our own "Royal Berkshire Reunion" weekend was a great success with over
100 Old Comrades of the Royal Berkshire and Associated Regiments attended over the weekend with our thanks to the Reunion Committee to Lt Col Barry Paddison MBE DL, Dave Smith,
Toby North, Ray Povey, Peter Richens, John North and we must thank CO 7 Rifles for his support.

The branches social events; a trip to the Chelsea Hospital with the in-pensioners and a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum to support the Northern Ireland Association event in September.
