John Tristram has informed the Association of the death of Professor Chris Williams. Christopher Williams was born in Monmouthshire in 1963 but his family later moved to Swindon. He completed a Short Service Limited Commission with 1 DERR in 1982/83 in his gap year between finishing school and attending Balliol College, Oxford University. He became a noted Welsh academic, lecturing at Cardiff University and Swansea University, and editing the diaries of Richard Burton, before becoming Professor of History at University College, Cork from 2017 until his death on 4 April.
