The Death of Lt Mark Daymond, Wilts

Lt. Mark Daymond died on the 5th April 2018. (DOB 05.09.1936) Lt. Mark Daymond lived at Kels, Penwarne Lane, Mevagissey, Cornwall PL26 6PF . The family are planning a small family funeral in Cornwall and a memorial service later in the year to be held in Box, Wiltshire, the date of which will be notified.

The funeral service of Capt James Macmillan

The funeral service of Capt James Macmillan will take place at St Mary's Church in Bures St Mary, Suffolk, CO8 5AA on Friday 20 April at 10am. He will then be buried along side his late wife Caroline at 11am in the village cemetery. His family have said that anyone who knew James would be most welcome."


Macmillan James Michael died peacefully on 26th March 2018, aged 77.  A gentle man, loved by all who knew him.  Funeral service at St Mary's Church, Bures, Suffolk, at 10 a.m., on Friday 20th April, followed by burial with his beloved Caroline.  Donations please to Farleigh Hospice or RNLI, c/o Hunnaball of Colchester, 41 Mersea Road, Essex, CO2 7QT.

The Death of Lt Michael Barnes CBE

Lt Michael Cecil John Barnes CBE died 22nd March 2018 – a former Wiltshire Regiment National Service Officer who served the majority of his time in the Army in Hong Kong. He was born 22nd September 1932 and formerly lived at 45, Ladbroke Grove, London W11 3AR.

Michael was a very talented man - initially he was a teacher in London – became a Labour MP and held his seat for a number of years – he was heavily involved in a number of international issues at the time – He chaired the Electricity Consumer Council from 1977 to 1983 and from 1984 to 1990 he was director of the UK Immigrants’ Advisory Service. From 1991 to 1997 he was the Legal Services Ombudsman handling many cases during each year. Appointed to CBE in 1998

He regularly attended our annual lunches and was excellent company – he will be sadly missed.

The Death of Capt James Michael Macmillan DERR

Capt James Michael Macmillan died on 26th March 2018 at the age of 77. He had been unwell for some time. 

He was commissioned from Sandhurst into The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire) on 23rd July 1960 and left the Army as a Captain in 1970.

His wife predeceased him and there were no children. His elder brother, John, was commissioned into the Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1953 and after the 1959 amalgamation continued to serve in DERR until 1971; he died in 1979. James is survived by another brother, Charles.


Funeral details are not yet known.

Funeral Details for Major AH Jones


Some will already be aware of the recent death of Major Andrew Jones. In 1974 Andrew Jones was commissioned in to the Gloucestershire Regiment, joining D Company of the 1st Battalion in January 1975.

The funeral service of Andrew Jones will take place at Salisbury Crematorium, Barrington Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 3JB on Tuesday 17th April 2017. The service will begin at 1.00 pm. Donations, if desired, may be made to ‘ABF, The Soldiers Charity’.
It is suggested that those wishing to contact the family write to Andrew’s son, Mr Ben Jones. His address is: 139 Ashley Down Road, Bristol, BS7 9JT. Ben will pass on correspondence to his brother, Alex, and other family members as appropriate.

Salisbury crematorium lies on the North East outskirts of the city just off the A30 (Salisbury/Basingstoke/London Road) and next to the London Road Cemetery. The Crematorium is two miles from Salisbury Railway Station.

Funeral Service for Brian Fitz-Gerald DERR

Funeral Service for Brian Fitz-Gerald DERR

The following details have been sent to me from Brian's son Carl regarding the Funeral Service for his father Brian Fitz-Gerald.

The Funeral service will take place at St Martins Church, Horn Street, Cherition, Kent CT20 3JJ on the 6th April 2018 at 1300hrs, followed by a Burial at Shornecliffe Military cemetery at 1400hrs.

Flowers welcome, donations if preferred, to the Rifles Association or ABF, the soldiers Charity.

A wake to be confirmed later.

May Brian Rest in Peace, condolences to all Brian's family.

The death of Major Andrew Jones, Glosters

Major A H Jones. Many will be sad to hear of the recent death of Major Andrew Jones. Andrew Jones was commissioned in to The Gloucestershire Regiment in June 1974. He joined D Coy, 1 GLOSTERS in January 1975. His family passed on the news and will be in contact again when details of Andrew’s funeral service are known.
