The Death of WO2 Ray Povey DERR

Sad news just received from the Reading Branch of the Association. This morning (21 September) Ray Povey passed away in the early morning whilst in Reading Hospital. Ray Povey was a stalwart member of the Regimental Association as well as the Reading Branch, where over many years he held just about every committee position. He will also be remember for the Reunion trips back to Malta. Details of his funeral will released when know; in the meantime our condolences and commiserations go to family, particular his wife Liz and their son Andrew. "To Be a Farmer's Boy". RIP

Full Funeral details will be released when known, though the indications at present are that the numbers being allowed to attend will be very limited. The Death of Otto Mellerup- Glosters & Wilts

      

The Cam and Dursley Branch of the Royal British legion have release news that Otto Mellerup ,a long standing member of the branch, died recently. Otto was 90 and had been ill for some years. He died peacefully at home. Otto joined the Dursley Branch in 1965 and was a regular attender at meetings until a few years ago. He did his National Service in the Gloucestershire Regiment and then in the 1st. Bn The Wiltshire Regiment (Duke of Edinburgh's ) 1948-50, when he served with BAOR during the Berlin Airlift; he was later called up as a Reservist during the 1956 Suez Crisis. After demob. he worked for many years at Mawdsleys Mechancial Engineering.

The Death of George Parker - Wilts

The family of George Parker of Salisbury and the Wiltshire Regiment, have informed us that he passed away on Wednesday 9th September 2020. There will be a funeral service at the Salisbury Crematorium, but as yet not date has been confirmed.

The Death of WO1 (RSM) David Porter DERR

David Porter died suddenly on Saturday 22nd August aged 63. He joined DERR, aged 15, in Sept 72 at Wyvern Bks in Exeter and retired in Spring 1996, having been RSM at ITC Brecon.
