What a cracking turnout. As I mentioned yesterday, numbers were around 120ish, plus the raffle raised £500, a big thank you to all.
The lunch started off with our resident singer, Chrystal Bliss, entertaining us before we sat down to lunch. Our esteemed secretary, Martin, as MC, kicked off with introductions before we sat down to eat. The food was excellent as usual, plus the generous vino collapso on the tables, and port for the toasts. Brig (Retd) Martin Vine said a few words on the battle of the Imjin River about the bravery of the Gloucester Regiment at the battle of the Imjin River. Brigadier Martin also said a few kind words to our retiring secretary, Martin Talling, and presented him with a gift from all the members of the association. A big thank you, Martin, for all your hard work in keeping the association together. But also a big thank you to Giesla Martins, right-hand woman. Our MC Martin did the usual toasts to the King and Absent Friends. After the toasts, Chrystal entertained us again with a rousing sing-along, which I know you all enjoyed. I also know for a fact that Chrystal and Steve, her roadie, had an excellent afternoon with us. Also, a big thank you to Pat Sweeny and his staff for looking after us impeccably. An excellent afternoon was had by all. I hope you all had a safe journey home, and hopefully no thick heads this morning. TTFN
