Back Badge Day is one of the most distinctive and proud occasions in the Glosters’ calendar, celebrating the unique honour carried by the Regiment for more than two centuries. The Back Badge—worn on the rear of the headdress—stands as a symbol of steadfast courage, discipline, and the refusal to yield, earned at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801 when the Regiment fought with equal resolve to the front and rear.

Each year, veterans, serving soldiers, families, and friends gather to mark this tradition, reflecting on the legacy of those who upheld the Regiment’s reputation through generations of service.
